If you find something precious you should keep it or perhaps even better, pass on the secret! – that’s always my motto when it comes to fashion and I have discovered one of the best precious gems this side of the Liffey! ‘Frock and Fabulous’ is an ingenious idea by Kara Maher. It takes away all of the pressure and stresses of finding a perfect dress for a special occasion. I have so many different events, red carpets, after parties and award ceremonies to go to, it’s nearly impossible to find one off dresses that work and make you stand out from the crowd. I know that sometimes you might find yourself flicking through magazines gazing at some of the most beautiful, most expensive and possibly most out of our league dresses on celebrities you could possibly imagine! Pick up any Vogue, Harpers Bizarre and you’ll see all the top names Valentino, Jenny Packham and many more that if you HAD the money you might indulge in a one off purchase… but what if you could have all of the above for one night and return it with Kara picking up the dry cleaning bill?… Well you can! I couldn’t believe this service was available and so easy! Frock and Fabulous is an incredible service updated form the old rental system of yesteryear…. It’s not about renting a dress for a Debs that look like they stepped out of a Belinda Carlisle Video from the 80’s remember them?… this is a whole new ballgame. Superb, sparkly, classy, pristine, top designer label dresses at a fraction of the cost. It’s simply brilliant. I rented a wonderful beaded Terani, blush pink strapless mini dress, for the prestigious Bafta awards in February, something that needed to be eye-catching and simply a wow dress – it was Kara who thankfully sorted me out and my guna, which I wore for over 9 hours on the red carpet and in the ceremony itself. I was delighted with it, it was stunning, so delicate and decadent at the same time and it even caught the eye of George Clooney who said it was bootyful – Thanks George!! So with that confidence in mind I decided to get another dress for another red carpet this time it was for the Empire Awards in London and I went for a nude coloured Cavalli dress… this was a showstopper and had amazing detail on the skirt. It was wonderful to work in and even got a few nice compliments from Jonathan Ross, Gary Oldman and the very cool James Mc Evoy! I have to say that since it’s hard to find a dress that NOBODY will have on the red carpet or another awards ceremony – I turn to Kara and indeed I’ll always find what I want. Her dresses are picked from Paris, New York and all over the world from some of the finest designer houses in the world. I know that in times like these when you need bigger bang for your buck and with a big important occasion looming you need a dress – cocktail/ evening or otherwise to work hard for your wardrobe – so my advice would be rather than pounding the pavements for one, why not try Kara out for size and see if she can get an incredible dress that fits like glove in style and shape and in bonus your budget!

I had to write a quick note about frocknfabulous. I recently had a wedding to attend and couldn’t find anything that I felt lovely in. When I saw Kara’s frocknfablous on Xpose I thought I’d try it out and was delighted. After a personal trial of dresses where Kara came out to the house one evening I immediately went for the Anoushka. It was perfect for the day fitted great and Kara was really lovely to deal with, flexible and helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back again for that next occasion.

I recently rented the Terani Couture Evening Gown from the frock n fabulous website for the Our Lady’s Hospital charity ball in the Four Seasons. I felt compelled to write a testimonial as I was so delighted with the dress and the service. I wanted to wear something special but didn’t have the budget to buy so I was delighted when a friend (who had seen it on Xpose) pushed me to the site http://www.frocknfabulous.ie/ .  It was the first dress that I saw and I loved it but I was a little dubious just renting it from the site as I had never done it before. So I gave Kara, the owner, a call and she talked me through all my concerns. She gave me a personal fitting of the dress and discussed suitability for the occasion. In the end, I bit the bullet and rented it for the night and I was absolutely delighted that I did! It arrived the day before the ball so I wasn’t fretting or worrying, I knew it was gorgeous and fitted perfectly! And then it was picked up the following day, no bother with having to get it cleaned or no worry about it gathering dust in my wardrobe! I really loved wearing the dress on the night, it felt very special and I got endless compliments on it.

I will definitely rent from frock n’ fabulous again. The choice is fantastic, the dresses are all really spectacular and the service is top rate. Two of my friends have already booked dresses for an upcoming wedding. It is the best idea ever!!

I was dreading this year’s VIP style awards. Style and pregnancy don’t go hand in hand but after logging onto www.frocknfabulous.ie, I now realise that they’re not mutually exclusive. Kara picked me a stunning, floor length Jenny Packham dress. Black and bump flattering; it ticked all the boxes! Getting the right dress can be difficult at the best of times, not to mind when you’re with child. Kara made it easy. I loved it and it was so comfortable. Thank you so much x

I first came across Frock n Fabulous on Xpose. I had never heard of dress rental before and I fell in love with the idea. I also fell in love with a beautiful Rachel Gilbert dress. I got straight onto Kara, who I must mention is a ‘dream’ to deal with.
She provides what I miss in these times “old school IRISH customer service”. Nothing is a problem, she loves what she does and knows her market.
I know my size and knew the dress would fit, but Kara suggested that she courier the dress to me (to make sure I was happy with the fit). It arrived on the date we arranged, I tried it on and sent it back by courier on the same day. Knowing I was 100% sure, I booked the dress for my event through the ‘very user friendly website’.
It arrived the day before my event and picked up the day after. Honestly it was the most stress free shopping I have ever done. I felt amazing in the dress, received tons of compliments and enjoyed the whole experience.
I would absolutely recommend Frock n Fabulous to anyone.

I was thoroughly impressed with my first experience with Frock n Fabulous. I attended a Frock n Fabulous ‘ladies night’ at a friends house. We were going to a wedding and one of the girls suggested we rent dresses opposed to spending a fortune on buying one. So I thought “why not”. Kara arrived with the Frock n Fabulous collection. Her passion and dedication made our night an unexpected and extremely fun experience. We got to try on lots of different dresses, some I probably wouldn’t have dared to try on in a store, but because of the relaxed and fun atmosphere, I did.;) And I am so glad I did, as the dress Kara picked out for me was simply beautiful and something I would have never imagined myself in. She has a wonderful sense of style and makes you feel so at ease. I booked my dress on the night. It was delivered by courier the day before and picked up the day after the wedding.
I didn’t even have to dry clean it!
This concept is so wonderful, it makes life so easy when looking for a ‘special’ dress for a ‘special’ occasion and it’s so affordable.
Kara keeps myself and the girls updated on new stock she has coming in – love it.
